SALES MANAGER FORUM GROWS NATIONWIDE! 2018 REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN.
Responding to the question “Is there an organization where Sales Managers can meet together for ongoing, high level learning opportunity and challenges specific to leading a sales force?” we created the first group in early 2017. With a max group size of 15, this group had nothing but rave reviews to report. We continue to meet through the year, drilling down on a myriad of challenges and opportunities, and enabling an outside mechanism for enhanced accountability. TIME MANAGEMENT
In previous issues I have underscored a number of tips on how to optimize your day/week/month/year. Things like managing to a calendar vs a to do list, operating more like a Doctor with appointments scheduled throughout the day. Most of my Doctors are booked solid for at least a month out, thereby optimizing their time and incomes. Are you? Staying with the Doctor example, all of mine leverage a personal assistant, thereby optimizing their income time. Are you? The Doctors clearly know what their High Payoff Activities are, and they stay focused there. Do you? My Docs have a clear knowledge of their hourly rate. Do you?
Let me share an example that puts rubber on the road. Examine your existing customer/client portfolio and rank them by dollar spend from high to low for the year. Now, where do you spend your time? Are you optimizing your time in the field, going wide and deep with those who already trust you? Often it is easier to generate more sales/revenues from mining the existing accounts than bouncing around your territory in pursuit of a new one! Hey, I’m not lobbying for a lack of prospecting for new. Just want to ensure we are staying focused on those we have landed! Speaking of prospecting for new client/customers, have you ranked your prospects by value to you, and scheduled your time accordingly. As I like to say, 168 is the weekly allotment of hours we all get – the key is to optimize them!

Your time with our team has them really fired up (Jack’d up) and it is a really exciting thing to see. In my wrap up on Friday following your presentation, I asked everyone to identify a minimum of 3 things that they will be doing differently based upon your time with us, things that they will be using to grow exponentially this year, and that can be discussed openly on coaching calls that I have with them. I set a timeline of today to have them over to me, yet almost the entire team had them to me Saturday and Sunday. I even had one of our newest reps work backwards to his goal- he defined his success, and charted backwards to the present- and he did this while flying on his flight home early Saturday morning!
